What we might not be so prepared for, however, is the zombie apocalypse and moderate-to-high levels of sadness. But we’d better pull our socks up and add the tissues to the bugout bag. Because the Undying Early Access is nearly here.
Undying is a multi-platform survival game from Skystone Games and Vanimals, but the ‘survival’ part is complicated. Players assume the role of Anling, the ill-fated mother who has already been bitten by a zombie. As the infection slowly takes hold, Anling’s first and final priority is to ensure the survival of her son, Cody. Tearing up, yet?
In their final days together, Anling and Cody must fight, scavenge, and craft for the sake of Cody’s continued survival. And if that wasn’t heartbreaking enough – players must not lose sight of what’s most important: to spend their final days together strengthening their bond as mother and son.
Needless to say, Undying is a unique and story-rich take on a tried-and-tested genre. Even as Anling’s ‘condition’ begins to fester, it will unlock new abilities with which to survive just a little longer. But with every new ill-omened ability comes another tick of the doomsday clock.
